About Interact
Interact is a service club for 12 through 18 year old teens founded by Rotary International and sponsored by three individual Rotary clubs of the area. The Juneau-Douglas High School Interact Club was founded by the Juneau Rotary Club in 1990 and is the Charter's first Interact Club in the Alaska/Yukon Rotary District, 5010. The Juneau Rotary Club and the Juneau-Gastineau Rotary Club sponsor two rotary advisers and a Rotary/Faculty adviser for our own club. Our team, Juneau Douglas High School's (http://www.juneauschools.org/pages/Juneau_School_District) Interact, is sponsored by Juneau-Gastineau's Rotary Club (http://www.clubrunner.ca/Portal/Home.aspx?accountid=386). We help our community in various projects like the Sock Drive and have run an event of our own called the Homelessness Awareness Sleep Out, which has been done for ten years and will continue again this year for the eleventh year. Interact is a great way to get involved in Juneau's community as well as internationally; we welcome all students who want to find a way to help their community, gain leadership and communication skills, help others, and have fun!
If you're interested, come to one of our meetings! They take place every Monday in room 235 (the pottery room: on the second floor, at the end of the left wing). You can talk to our Rotarian/Faculty adviser, Dixie Weiss (email address and telephone number are placed on the Contact Page) or talk to our club's president, Tasha Elizarde (email address listed on the Contact Page). We'd love to have you join!
